Façon de Venise, Simone Crestani
March 10, 2022 to April 30, 2022
Born in 1984 in Italy, Simone Crestani has been passionate about all types of manual work from
an early age. At the age of 15, he began an apprenticeship in a glass workshop.
This opportunity was a revelation for him: he discovered a deep bond with glass. Far from
imagining that he would become an artist, Simone worked for a long time as an artisan to
perfect his skills. Today, he creates artistic works in his eco-sustainable studio that respects the
environment.
Glass is an extremely fragile material that has nevertheless survived the passage of time,
despite the eclipses it has faced. This art knows today a new dimension which dynamizes the
codes of yesterday. Simone Crestani pushes the technical and artistic boundaries of his
discipline, without ever forgetting that art and history are intimately linked. Glass is the very
subject of his works. In his creation, the utilitarian aspect fades away to give way to sculptural
forms. Elegance and refinement are an essential quest for the creator.
The SCENE OUVERTE gallery presents for his solo show in Paris the collection "Fa on de
Venise", a tribute to the historical techniques of Murano. In a universe inspired by the majestic
power of nature, Simone combines tradition and modernity. The forms of the past find new
life in a contemporary craft. His research into historic Venetian techniques has led him to a
praise of history, strong with a timeless elegance.
